The Riser Angle Monitoring system monitors riser
angle at ball joint, angle of BOP stack,
relative angle between stack and riser, and BOP heading.
The Riser Angle Monitoring system typically consists of:
- Subsea sensor set housed in
appropriately rated subsea enclosures
- Subsea enclosure
interconnect cables
- PC-Based data processing and
display, printer and applicable software licences
- Pneumatic winch and
underwater cable umbilical
Data derived from subsea
sensors are displayed in graphical and mimic formats.
Typically four graphic pages are included, page formats can be
altered and fine-tuned to suit individual rig
requirements. In addition to graphics, trend pages can be
included for any / all parameters.
The PC archives data for many
months enabling historical analysis, follow up and investigation
of any incidents. Alarms can be set to any parameter once
angles or direction exceed a certain value.
Data is available for hand-off
to other rig systems.
Option
Wind speed, direction, sea current force and direction can
be added to the display system. These factors are often
significant in riser angle and riser offset, including them with
BOP/Riser system, together with alarm levels can help with both
event forecasting and event analysis.
