EFC's Anchor
Winch Monitoring System is an excellent upgrade, giving the
operators of floating MODUs a real time overview of rig-wide
winch status, with the options to display winch data centrally,
together with wind speed/direction.
The archive
option allows incidents to be historically evaluated.
Additional functions, such as anchor chain tension or speed alarms, can be
added as required.
Level
1 AMS System
This system provides a PLC and display screen terminal in each
winch house. The PLCs are networked together using DH485
protocol, allowing information from each winch to be viewed in
any winch house.
The following
parameters are displayed:
- Chain Tension
- Chain Payout/Payin speed
displayed in FT/MIN.
- Chain footage
Level
2 AMS System
The Level 2 System has the same features as the Level 1 with the
addition of a PLC-driven, central operator’s terminal,
normally located in the Barge Control Room. This terminal
displays all the above information for each winch, with the
added scope for audible alarms for any parameter.
Level
3 AMS System
The Level 3 System has
the same features as the Level 2, but with a PC replacing the
PLC-driven screen. EFC’s dedicated SCADA software displays all
AMS parameters in the Barge Control Room on a slim, TFT Monitor.
The PC
advantages include gathering and displaying additional
information, including crucial Wind Speed and Direction data, as
well as Rig Heave, Pitch and Roll, Ballast details etc.
This system
also allows the recording and retrieval of all data over lengthy
periods of time (200 days+). The data can be retrieved and
viewed in graphical form at any time, and is also available for
remote transmission as required.
Additional
Winch Parameters
The following winch
parameters can be added to any of the above systems:
- Hydraulic Oil Temperature
- Hydraulic Oil PSI
- Brake Coolant Temperature
